When it comes to justice we often think of the supreme court as the body that oversees the implementation of the constitution, examines large cases, examines and responds to complaints and denunciations against lower courts. Local courts look at civil, administrative, criminal and citizens’ allegations of the injustice they have suffered. In some countries, the supreme court and the constitutional courts have a huge influence on national policy. For example, the Supreme Court in the Republic of South Africa condemned racism and the country’s government was forced to take reform measures.
