Przewalski horses were saved from the brink of extinction and successfully replicated in the wild. The Tarpan horses became extinct in the 19th century although it was a possible ancestor of the domestic horse and roamed the steppes of Eurasia at the time of purebred. However, other subspecies of Equus ferus may exist and may be of domesticated horse origin. Since the extinction of the Tarpan many efforts have been made to reconstruct the horse’s phenotype and as a result there are breeds like Konik and Heck.
The term wild horse is also used colloquially to refer to free horses as wild horses like Mustang in the United States, Brumby in Australia, and many other countries. The wild horses are the untamed member of the domestic horse (Equus ferus caballus).
Currently in Sable Island is the paradise of wild horses freely moving around the island. The island is also famous for its 400 wild horses. The horses currently living on the island are descendants of the horses confiscated from the Acadians shipment, who passed by the island and were forced to abandon them in the past.
