Analytics took all the movement out of the game. People don’t put the ball in play, steal bases, bunt, and the number of in play balls is down. The game use to be guys like Ricky Henderson. They got on base and you had to watch the cat a mouse game… now steals are frowned upon and the next batter up isn’t making contact to create a runner movement. Anyone who watches the game can see the difference.. While the article concentrates on strike outs, the extreme defensive shifts are equally to blame. That kills small ball as much as pitching.. I feel for the guy normally when a team get off of him he’s in a losing streak. But the dolphins season isn’t over at 3-3 it is a strange time to make the transition.
