All of my babies are too old for summer camp, but boy did they (and we!) love it. Thanks for the memories of languid summers spent at camp and swim team and just plain old lazing around. Trying to embrace this as a chance to relive childhood Summers with my kid in tow! Backyard pool, rock music on radio, ice pops, and lots of rum punch with a HUGE side of grace. Sad for the counselors, too. They love it so much. It is the BEST experience. My daughter is devastated, she said, “That’s one less summer for me.” So sad for your girl!!! D and C are devastated too. More upset about camp than school! It was D’s last year as a a camper. we live in Raleigh & the YMCA’s here have it. They have pool time, Horse & dog therapy, Art, music, etc. (We lived in Morehead City prior to diagnosis but relocated to Raleigh afterwards). I think he would really enjoy it! Trace would love to see Nolan at camp! He talks about him everyday! Too bad it had to be cancelled…
My daughter sobbed her eyes out today and my son was so disappointed. Both Falling creek and Camp Illahee announced no camps this summer. Praying they feel how much we love them and wish they could go my son is a former Falling Creek camper who was so looking forward to his first year as a counselor. We were crushed to hear the news, but totally understand and appreciate their decision. Gale Schulman if you read my post correctly, I am 100% in agreement with the camps decisions. I want them home safe with me but just sad for them because they look forward to it all year.
We are praying for all these camp owners and directors. this would have been my daughter’s 11th year at Illahee. She was going to be a counselor for June and July. She is so sad. Nicole Cristina Masters would you rather send them for your “free time “ have them get sick and then you can have a lifetime of FREE time from them ! Be safe not sorry camp didnt open . It’s not ready yet for this.
