I do…those were awesome days….when you were treated like a lady and men did all those things for you….now I thank God for Modern technology where now your car tells you what it needs. I do. I miss the service station attendants and the service they provided. And you tipped them a quarter. Of course now their tip would have to be much larger but I would be more than happy to tip them for their service. Wish we had one again, I drove a little further to get the service before they quit doing it. So nice, check the fluids in your car also. And gas was 23 cents per gallon, I pumped gas for my father in law often and would put in 50 cents and 1.00 often for the customer and wash the windshield and check the oil.. memories. I remember it well worked at my dads phillips66 station from the time i turned 12 to I got married and moved to another city and job yes we washed windows checked oil and tires and if it was a fillup we even vacuum the floors and people still complained about the price of gas which was about 45 cents in 1970. My husband made sure our children (4 girls + 1 boy) knew how to check oil, water in radiator, gas, change a tire and check air in tires. They also knew how to add water, oil, and air when needed and change a tire before we allowed them to go for their license!

I remember I was one of those helpful people meet a lot of great customers great days they were. now its show us ya money that’s it.greed has taken the fun out of a lot of good things. I worked at a full service station in the late 80’s. That’s where I met my wife. My mother-in-law would have her drive so the drivers side of the windshield would be cleaner. We have a station right down the road, the gas was $1.85 a gallon. They washed my front and rear windows and headlights, just the other day. I felt like I was in the twilight zone! There’s a scene in the first “Back to the Future” where a car pulls into what used to be called a service station. Four guys all run out to start fueling, washing windows, checking oil, and checking tires. I was a kid in the 1950’s and remember it well!
