This is so off the tourist traps. We stop there every time we fly into Frankfurt and spend a couple of relaxing days before we head out to explore. The restaurant on the corner sells the best strudel in Europe. It’s also the best place to catch the boat for the best of the Rhine. Thanks to you Rick, we visited Bacarach in the early 2000’s and met Herr Jung. He was as kind and warm as you portrayed him in your show. He even offered to babysit our strollered son so we could walk up to the Wernerkappelle. Spent two weeks there in 2000, in an apartment with a balcony overlooking a riverside park. Loved walking down the main street and looking at the dates on the crooked old buildings, peeking into flowery backyards from the side streets, and using our train/boat pass to explore the area (incuding Burg Eltz). Bacharach was a favorite stay in the 1970s. I always wanted to return and did in 2019, for a week. I had reservations for another week end of August….until Corvid raised its ugly head! Gazing lovingly at a picture of the Amalfi coast…Aside from the absolute breathtaking beauty of the area…the aroma of lemons was just amazing and refreshing at the same time. How we miss travel. I’m a pilot that flies to Europe and this is the first summer I’ve been home in 30 years! I’m enjoying it because I know next summer won’t be so relaxing for me!
