Fun to see you at the piano and that’s a good blues scale! Your father was a family friend. I’m a pianist and have the beautiful Grotrian Steinweg my father bought from your dad in 1967. He used to tell us stories of you becoming a “travel bum”. He was very proud of your early successes writing guidebooks!

  • Thank you for this video – I’ve been playing my piano a lot recently and going back through lots of classical piano books I have laying around. I’m ready for a change, think I’ll check out playing more blues and jazz – inspired by this video!!
  • My 15 year old daughter and I are going to watch Rick Steve’s Europe episodes as a fun supplement to her World History class while schools in Lincoln, NE are closed.
  •  You are such a positive, giving, and genuine person every time I see you on social media or your travel programs. Thanks for always sharing the joy in the things you’ve experienced.
  • I am sitting with my 2020 Rick Steve’s catalog on my lap. I am sure that my June tour will be canceled. So, I am dreaming about my 2021 trip! This may be my first summer at home for many years.

I enjoyed watching this with my kids. My husband has been doing some piano lessons during this time. When my husband and I took our last trip to Europe (before kids) I searched for pianos for him to play while we travelled. There was a lovely little hotel in the Dordogne Valley in France that had a piano in their lobby and let him play. I’m pretty sure I found the place through Rick Steves.

Love this and your travel shows! I’m learning to play the folk guitar for church music and I’ve gone from playing 5 songs to 25 in a short time! Not ready for primetime yet but it is a joyful pursuit and time well spent. Happy Easter.

Seeing AND hearing you play is such a treat! I don’t know what I’d do without my piano & I’m getting a lot of practice these days. Thanks (from Northern Wisconsin) for this lesson on the blues scale. Love it!
