I entirely agree, I think restaurants can be operated relatively safely, not so sure about bars, it depends on the space available and other factors. Also, this would spread out the customs base rather than it being concentrated to the market place alone.

• The idea is that its outside; which I agree will be lower risk than inside a shop, but this is an event. People will have to travel to it en masse, so impossible to social distance! NOT ALLOWED ! I agree it seems to contradict the advice. But I’m starting to wonder about the effectiveness of these lock downs, so maybe this is fine, but it begs the question why everything else is shut in the hospitality and entertainment industry.
• That’s the injustice of it really – Many shops gone out of business and yet Nottm City Council are doing this – it’s totally against covid restrictions – how can they get away with that. I’m a former market trader and i can see the obvious benefits of an outdoor market, but this is not just a market – its an EVENT
• I don’t understand how they can give the go ahead for an “event”, especially given you can’t even let a thousand fans in a massive sports stadium apparently. The rules are certainly being inconsistently applied. Why oh why can this be allowed. All about grabbing money regardless of the consequences. Add to that a fair ride, bet they won’t cleanse it after each time people get off. This Council always do the opposite!!

Everyone who’s complaining about this … if your concerned don’t go ! Stay at home! It’s your choice! If you have vulnerable people around you do the right thing, if not then go and enjoy it !!!! Everything’s been a giant contradiction from day one don’t know why everyone’s so surprised

This us a farce while pubs and restrasunts hav to shut the local council needs to be sacked if they want every one in nottingham to get covid and spread it round we will be in lockdown even longer the local mps need to be consulted on this

I won’t be even thinking about coming into Nottingham for the Christmas market how can they justify putting this on we’re trying to get out of T3 not stop in it ffs and how are they going to police it ? People will get together no matter what as they can’t be everywhere watching …. utter madness !
