There are a lot of names in there that I cannot pronounce but those names have meaning. Her name has meaning and her parents should have the right to choose whatever they want…. Look at all these folks around here calling their kids after handbags and cars!!
- But Makeda is from their heritage. I am sure in Africa many of our names silly. It’s not like she was naming her kid Apple or North. Makena is actually very common even here in the good old USA. I have worked with several and one girl isn’t black. Who said that the names white give their children are ok?
- Sherri Brooks-Brunelle that is also something that makes me crazy is naming their children after materialistic items…. And i have read the bible thank you.. Ellyn Salmon those are common ethnic names. I have not a problem with those as i said in my post. It seems like some of these names that African Americans come up with are just jumbled up letters of the alphabet
It should be that way here in the US. If the name is going to cause your child future embarrassment then it should be a no go. So many people naming their kids something dumb and not thinking about what the child may go through as an adult.
My daughter was born in Germany. Her name is Branduine. They have books with approved names for boys and girls. Her name was not in their book, but being U. S. Military we had to sign a waiver in order to name her.
That’s stupid I think you should be able to name your child whatever you want I happen to think that is a very beautiful name, I was expecting something truly ridiculous like naming their kid after a food, but telling them the name sounds “too African”? That’s just rude!
