Neither is it necessary to have a bucket with a spigot. I make an inoculant using equal parts dairy kefir whey and molasses – added to water in a spray bottle. I ferment our food scraps in a bucket, anaerobically, for a couple of weeks, and then mix the lot with soil in rubbermaid bin which I store in the house or basement until warmer weather, and the resulting compost can be added to raised beds or cold frames.
