Back in the living room, Sophie stood in front of the mirror. The mirror was blurred and scratched, her reflection only blurred. She began gesturing with her shadow in the mirror as she used to play in the bathroom at home. The shadow in the mirror imitated exactly. Of course, that is the only thing one waits for. Exactly once – for a split second – Sophie saw very clearly the girl in the mirror winked with both eyes. Sophie pulled back in panic. If she had winked herself, how could she see that girl wink?
