In Vietnam, thanks to the implementation of an expanded national immunization program from 1985 to the present and continuously maintained the high immunization rate of over 90% for many years, the number of dangerous infectious diseases with vaccines significantly reduced, our country eradicated polio in 2000, achieved the goal of eliminating neonatal tetanus by 2005 and continues to maintain this achievement.
The success of expanded immunization has brought about remarkable results, fundamentally changing the morbidity patterns in children. Measles, for example, has decreased by 3010 times (comparing 2016 to 1984) and whooping cough has decreased by 844 times over the same period.
