VAW stands for Vietnam Veterans Against the War – The Vietnam Veterans Against the War. They spend the rest of their lives, after returning from the Vietnam battlefield, to fight the war, to seek justice for Agent Orange infected wounded or veterans. They hold marches, supporting congressmen like John Kerry or John McCain – who are also veterans from Vietnam and like-minded.

John Lindquist became an important member of VVAW after his demobilization in 1969. In April 1971, he held a protest at The Mall of DC. Veterans threw “war souvenirs” over the White House fences: medals, discharge papers, and prosthetics. It was also the time that John met Anne Bailey. She is a VVAW coordinator. They got married in 1976 and lived in Milwaukee, where John took a job as a mechanic for the town hall.
