Joan Lindsey is a master dancer on Hula who teaches Hula in a gym on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. She has been teaching Hula for 50 years. The Hula dance (singing and dancing) has been passed down through generations of people living in Hawaii. “Hula really means dancing,” said Ms. Lindsey. But it is a symbol of Hawaiian cultural soul. It is a native language. Hula is the connection between the spiritual world and the daily life of Hawaiians. That is the beauty of art. Hula is the root, and we always cherish it.
