Calico cats are cats with basic coat of three colors in three distinct regions, usually yellow / brown / red / red, black / black brown and white. The calico cats appear in many different breeds of cats, so a “calico cat” is just a classification of cats based on the color of their coat, not a true race.
Calico cats have a typical tricolor coat with white markings in the majority. A calico cat is a special form of tortoiseshell cats (also known as tortoiseshell cats, kittens or black striped cats) and is also known as tortoiseshell-and-white in the UK or calico in England. Canada and the US, the mi-ke in Japan, the chatte d’Espagne (“Spanish female cat”) in France, because its tricolor is very clear and has more white fur than a tortoiseshell cat is usually in golden brown hairs interspersed with black or brown spots or stripes, white patches of hair only in a small proportion (or even almost absent), looking like tortoise shell color or tortoise shell color.
