My Dad bought one exactly like that back in the 60’s for temporary transportation. I was just a 60 lb. kid and helped him pull the engine that he rebuilt in the not so technical garage. Drove it for a short while and sold it then bought a 56′ Caddy.

  • My brother in law had one. It had 100,000 miles on the clock. He did another 100,000 miles in it and sold it to a student who put another 60,000 miles on it. Great little car for those not in a hurry.
  • My VW was a1955, or maybe a year or two older. and was a darker blue. I could drive it around town on $6.00 worth of gasoline per month. It was fun to drive and there was not a lot of traffic like there is now.
  • My first car was a 57. Bright orange and rh drive for NZ. Paid 600dollars for it about 1969 and drove many miles over the next two years. Could keep the speedo needle stuck on 70 downhill or with a tail wind. They had no fuel gauge but was a lever on the floor to switch to emergency fuel which would get you home hopefully.
  • Think first model with gauge was the 59Lets cut the crap. No happy feelings for a car invented by hitler and a company that put profit over integrity.

Had a 65 that dad bought new. Smashed it into tree on a foggy night when I was 16. It had a radio shack power booster with great stereo on the 6volt battery. Lights would dim when you cranked it up. I would suggest a 12 volt conversion

isn’t this something you would like or am I getting you confused with someone else…
