Could you do another show on the Alsace area of France? The one I’ve seen was made in 1997 and I would love to see an update on that. I love your show and guidebooks. My great grandmother came from Alsace, from the town of Gundershoffen. I was able to see it in 2008. I had heard about Alsace all my life. It’s incredibly beautiful.

  • Great interview! I learned a lot about your business practices and general tourism philosophy. It was refreshing to say the least considering the lack of integrity, honesty and empathy I see going on in the US on just about every level. Keep up your amazing work and I hope to join one of your tours in the near future.
  • if you believe England is dull, you don’t know England. I lived in the south of England for two years. I traveled from Cornwall to Wales to Scotland. I still feel I only scratched the surface of what this beautiful country has to offer. Even two years in, I was still discovering marvelous cultural differences. The English are not just Americans with charming accents.
  • You should do a series based in America … because I’m always surprised how little Americans truly explore their country. Sure, a lot of people go to Disney or the big cities, but how many truly get off the highway and explore the back roads, or go touring in “flyover country?” If it got popular, you could do guides and have tours in places off the beaten path!.

My husband and I love driving through this wonderful country of ours. Living where we do, every place we go requires a lot of driving. Talked him into driving to D.C., longest part was getting across Texas! Rest was a snap. He loved it, all the history as you travel and learn. Been north to Mackinac Island and west to drive the coast to Seattle and on to Vancouver,Canada. The sights are gorgeous! Everyone should see this country. But I’m in love with Italy! Who isn’t? Thank you,Rick Stevens, you open up the world and entice us to explore.

Rick is also a citizen and pays substantial taxes in support of his city, state and country. I for one am very interested in his views on the socio-economic impacts of politics not just in our country but the ones my family does or is likely to visit. Keep it coming Rick!

I’m going to be a bit of a contrarian and suggest that the first European country for an American to visit is the Netherlands. European, pragmatic, friendly, relatively safe and no real language barrier with a great public transportation network. Ireland is always worth a visit but my special place is northern Spain which is often overlooked. Yes, they speak Spanish but you can easily find your way around. It’s far from touristy and there’s some great scenery.
