I can’t wait to travel again but am reading your new book in the meantime. Visiting Milano was a dream come true for me, my husband, and friends. Below is one of many photos I took while on a tour of the top of the Duomo. Such a beautiful city! I remember that gorgeous cathedral and the piazza. Thank you Rick for taking me back there for one brief moment.

  • As a teenager in the early 80’s my father had a job that took him for business near Milano from our home in NY. In the summertime, we were fortunate that we were allowed to spend the entire summer there! I truly regard the Central Place as the most accessible city to voyage throughout Europe! From this city, a 3 hour drive in any direction connects you to an incredible array of locales.
  • Love you and your program, we have travelled quite a bit in the US and surrounding areas pre-pandemic of course and we had mapped out our coastal trip to Sicily and Italy for this summer, we hoped. Well, we know Europe isn’t going anywhere and can’t wait to visit. We love to walk and explore, eat and drink with the locals, it’s going to open up again and we will savor our travels all the more when we can get out in the world again!

I didn’t expect to like Milan as much as I did. Before I went I thought it would just be a spring board to get to Lake Como. But once there I really fell in love with this city, and hope to get back. I still have dreams about the food.

Off the radar for most visitors to Milan, the city has an excellent science and technology museum. Naturally, it’s named for Leonardo da Vinci. A little hard to find, but worth the effort. For another armchair visit to Milan, check out the Italian miniseries “Inspector Nardone,” set in post-war Milan. Available to stream on MHz, a sub-channel of Prime Video. It is excellent, with views of the Duomo in every episode!
