Such a shame, I’m all for diversity, but James Bond (except Sean Connery who was Scottish) has predominantly been a Traditional English Male, it just won’t have the same effect. So are they doing away with the James Bond character? I’ve read a couple of the articles online and it’s not clear. Maybe the new era will be just “Bond” or “007”
- I’ve also seen mock ups where it’s this new girl and the title is just 007 and the name of the movie, so I guess we are entering a new era for the James Bond 007 Franchise. isn’t English or Scottish, he might have played an English character when he was cast as James bond , but by no means is he English, 100% irish born and bred
- honestly the only thing I hate with changing characters is if the movies come from books. The books describe how things are supposed to be and you go into with that mindset. It’s a movie adaptation of an authors work and should be as close to the original as possible. Otherwise it doesn’t really bother me.
- I heard Idris Elba was supposed to play 007 but they passed him up. Anyways wondered why. Wonder if they feel the same way you do. I didn’t say I hated the idea, like many others, such a change will take time to adapt too, I’m more the movie will be great, I’m just coming from a traditional point of view.

he is clearly saying don’t change what isn’t broken why not leave Bond the way he is? Why do others feel the need to change things into Race and Gender? The Character James Bond is a iconic white Male regardless of how you feel about diversity it does not make those individuals any less Diverse they just don’t see any reason to change the Character they grew to love
you do know that she’s not playing James Bond right? So having an opinion on her race and gender is saying a black lesbian shouldn’t be a character in Bond movies. I am speaking for my self as well I’m not against bringing a new lead into the franchise just make sure it’s done correctly as Im seeing it something will happen to James Bond forcing or leading him to give up his Code name 007 maybe it can be done correctly. I will watch the film regardless because I’m a big Bond fan my self I just hope it’s done correctly
