We did the Portuguese Way in 2018 (May) and the French Way last April to early May. Truly memorable experiences and both are different, both exceptional in that it moves one in different ways. Buen Camino and Bom Caminho!

  • Loved this! Santiago de Compostela is an amazing place. We were lucky enough to visit there and stay in the paradore on the main square. Witnessed a group of Spanish cyclists celebrate their accomplishment of making the 1000 mile trek together!Something I will never forget!
  • Thank you Rick for featuring Jesus’s albergue in Villafranca del Bierzo – the guy’s an institution!! And embodies the true spirit of the Camino. Last we saw him (2013) he looked a tad older than in your video. Hope he’s still out there doing his bit… wish there were more like him on the Camino.
  • I walked the entire Camino Frances – 500 miles from St Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago, in 2018. It’s an experience like no other and I would HIGHLY recommend the journey no matter your age, perceived ability, or religious/non-religious background. It’s life changing. I’m walking the other half of it from Le Puy en Velay to St Jean next summer…should have been there now but Covid…

The Camino is AMAZING !!! Made my first Camino in 2017 with my wife and daughter, came back in 2019 with my wife and best friend to do the Camino Portugues and made friends for life with two Brazilian Pilgrims. Hope to do the Camino Primitivo September 2021. On our first trip to Spain we met up with you in Madrid. Saludos Rick Steves !!

My husband and I walked in 2015 from SJPDP to Santiago. I even wrote a book about it “Walk Together and Take Care of One Another” available on Amazon. It was important for me to document it because as Rick taught us: you can be brave when you travel, and in fact that’s sometimes what makes the difference between a tourist and a traveler.

I did the Camino last summer with my son before his senior year in HS (thank god we didn’t wait!). It was only the last 100km but probably one of the top 3 travel adventures of my life. It hit every button. Wife, myself (Camino Frances 3 times): daughter and son-in-law (4times and the Camino Norte’ once)What an amazing journey in and through life.
