As a state employee, I’d like to see some kind of raise in pay. At a community college with an MA degree I’m making less than a lot of teachers yet Roy Cooper decided a 3.9% raise for teachers wasn’t enough so we ALL got NOTHING. All state employees aren’t teachers, and although they’re important (I was one for 14 years), their pay isn’t the only pay that matters. I was not dissatisfied with my pay when I taught; I was dissatisfied with the working conditions. I think state employees fared better under McCrory and will fare better again under Dan Forest. Now, having said that I do support my youngest child and their sexual orientation and right to marry. I do believe black lives matter. I do wear a mask in public. I was raised with (and believe) Christian values. Nevertheless, I plan to vote for the NC party that I feel is more fiscally sound based on track record and I live out my beliefs and values in my personal life. I need to know that our state finances will be in the black and that my job will continue to be funded with perhaps a little 1-2% raise now and again. I can’t vote for Forest because the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior and he has done nothing for our state beyond whine, complain and not attend important meetings as Lt. Governor. I’m not going to vote for someone that couldn’t even do the minimum for one job and then attempted to get a bigger job. when did she say she’s voting for Trump again? I asked her publicly at a talk a couple years ago if she was sorry she’d voted for him, and I thought I remembered she said she was.
