If you’re putting lives in danger I’m calling the god damn cops. Had a situation a few years back where we must’ve been in the semis blind spot or something (to give him benefit of the doubt) and he ran us off the highway. Lucky for us we passed a cop 3 minutes prior who saw the whole thing. You did the right thing. They could have been having a medical emergency. Good thing they got the driver off the road before he killed somebody. You know, people can name me as a cop caller all day long if they want. That’s their choice. Personally, I don’t believe in stupid titles such as that. But I have called in several reckless and or intoxicated drivers. Many of which have been far worse than this guy. But as a little PSA, if you ever have to call 911 or a non emergency dispatch number; please remain as calm as possible (no yelling/screaming). Listen very closely to what the call taker is saying. And only provide essential details. Following those simple ideas will significantly help the call taker, dispatch, and responding officers or medical personel.
Back to the fact of me calling in reckless or intoxicated drivers: I will only place that call if I believe that the driver of the vehicle in question or any driver near them is in immediate danger. And the driver has shown me signs indicating that they absolutely can not control the vehicle. Also, I am not making that call to see someone taken to jail. I am simply calling for their safety as well as the public’s safety. No reason to threaten guy ,he kills a family or young children then you still call him a rat ,guy did a good job calling it in,yes maybe he should have lent passenger talk but all is good.
