Black cats (or ebony cats) have played an important role in folklore and mythology for centuries. In the Middle Ages, they were thought to be companions of witches or ‘incarnations of the devil’, which led to the massacre of many ebony cats in Europe during this muddy period. Similar to the yellow or gray melon, the black cat is not a breed, this is just a common fur in short-haired domestic cats.
