Strangely, quite a lot of superstition from the past still exist to this day. On Halloween, the myths and legends surrounding black cats are especially revived and attract children with mysterious stories. However, the image of an ebony cat is not only associated with bad omens, it has more valuable meanings than that.
The black cat represents both goodness and bad luck
Depending on the geographical location and different historical periods, ebony cats can be considered to be auspicious or ominous. In Italy in the 16th century, it was believed that if someone were ill, the black cat would not be allowed to come close, because they would die if it lay on the sickbed. In contrast, in the UK and the US today, black cats are a symbol of luck.
