To create the original form of Godzilla, Artistic Director Akira Watanabe combined the shapes of Tyrannosaurus, Iguanodon, Stegosaurus and crocodile into one complete set. Usually, Godzilla is shaped like a dinosaur with an upright posture, scaly skin, muscular but short arms, a long tail and serrated fins along the back and tail, with a eyes narrowed. Today, due to its characteristics as an amphibian reptile, Godzilla possesses a gill system to breathe in water.
The growing size of the Godzilla movies is quite interesting, as Godzilla tends to … get bigger and bigger over time. In 1954, Godzilla had the most modest height of 50m, about the size of a Japanese skyscraper at that time. Later, by the time of Heisei, Godzilla had reached a height of over 100m, more than double the time it first appeared. By 2016 in the movie Shin Godzilla, it had a record height of 118m.
Godzilla’s size changes over time
Earlier, Godzilla was described as weighing between 20,000 and 60,000 tons. Although the MonsterVerse universe, in Godzilla (2014), Godzilla has been scaled down to 108m, but the weight of 90,000 tons has turned it into the worst Godzilla of all versions. Many fans have teased that Godzilla in this version is a handsome fat monster, but in fact, in the movie Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, its height may be even higher.
