The books of Dr. Seuss is loved not only in the United States but also around the world to this day. As of 2009, the book Green Eggs and Ham has sold 540,000 copies, The Cat in the Hat has sold 452,000 copies, and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (Vietnamese title: One Fish, Two Fish, Fish Red Red, Blue Green Fish) sold 409,000 copies. This is a record in the children’s publishing industry.
With such great contributions, in 1998, the American National Education Association chose February 3, the date of birth of Dr. Seuss is a National Reading Day to help children become more interested in reading.
In a later interview, Dr. Seuss shared, “ I want to say that my attachment to children’s books is because I have a burning passion, I want to bring great messages to children around the world, but also because ’cause I’m a bit crazy.’
And rightly so, children have found it in Dr.’s books. Seuss silly things, funny but very logical, logical. For example, a two-headed animal must have two separate hats and toothbrushes, or if an elephant incubates a bird, then the baby elephant has wings and can fly.
During his career, Dr. Seuss published more than 60 books with a series of adaptations, including nine feature films including live-action and animation, 11 short films, and three television series. Recent animated films such as Horton hears a Who (2008), The Lorax (2012), The Grinch (2018) all have huge box office sales.
