According to the research results of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City, with the strong field of rice, agricultural production in the Mekong Delta has initially been mechanized in terms of soil preparation and harvesting. However, in the remaining stages, the level of application of machines in production is low. In addition, due to the high cost of imported new machines, most people accept used second-hand agricultural machines. These devices consume a lot of fuel, operate unstably, leading to high production costs. Therefore, the current post-harvest losses in the Mekong Delta are still 13% to 14% in quantity and more than 12% in value.
Also, with fruit production, outdated processing technology also greatly affects the quality. The processing lines are not synchronized, have automated stitching but still exist many stages of manual manipulation such as soaking, peeling, sorting and packaging; along with low traceability.
In addition, the Mekong Delta also has a large area of aquaculture but currently, the level of equipment and production is still limited in the stages of farming, harvesting, processing and environmental treatment, causing aquatic quality. Not as expected.
