My husband met your mum a few years ago camping near where this happened – what an amazing woman!. I still remember when this happened, was all over the news in Australia and an even bigger deal in North Queensland. I’m so sorry to hear that she’s passed, an incredibly strong-willed woman and one I admired.. Scrolling past this quickly my brain read only the bolded words and thought it was a some sort of warning. Like, “1 DAY LEFT HUMANS! PREPARE YOURSELVES!” And honestly, it didn’t even phase me. 2020 has prepared me to believe just about anything. . I remember Croc Granny! That incident is the reason why I do -not- camp. Sad to hear she has passed.. Your mom is a Rock Star Angel! I love she said you would have been on your own had it been a spider! A Moms instinct to protect those dear to her. Wow. What a great story to have thru the generations. ((HUGS)) Welcome hope you brought bourbon & dog treats doormat

Josephine Echon. My nan also got a bravery award. Beryl Housesaved her neighbour from domestic violence, axe to the face.. Barbara Lynch. When I read about your mum wrestling a crocodile, it reminds me of da days when there used to be giant lions here in Uganda( the Pearl of Africa)in a district called Masindi just near Lake Albert. Lions from game reserves used to invade villages and fe… . In every story I read here there’s a woman behind!! I will always love and respect you women (mothers) Thank you for everything you do for us. As an Australian, I remember hearing about this at the time! Our crocs are not like your alligators.. OK, Ill be that person: Why are so many saying it was a mum” reaction? A man doing something heroic and incredibly brave as she did would never be described as having his “dad instincts” kick in. She didn’t save a child either and they were all adult… See More Welcome hope you brought bourbon & dog treats doormat

This is the most Australian story Ive ever read, right down to the croc attack and the fearless granny!. Jessica Lynn Hanes. Amber K. Carrillo. I wonder what you need to do to earn the first highest civilian honor. Great story, and a reminder to never visit the Australian bush…. As an Aussie, as soon as I read camping on a remote QLD beach”, I knew this was going to be a wild story. You all deserve a medal for that act alone!!!. DonMichael SilverBoi Dmsb
your mum was such a heroine.
And this clears the notion that Hero fear nothing.. CeeCee Chu. You finally do one on an Aussie and you go with crocodiles
thanks for helping that stereotype . Valerie Vauclair. When we visited Australia one of our guides told us this story! He said it wasn’t the crocs you had to worry about, but the grandmothers. I love this has come full circle and wish peace to you and yours.

This story absolutely went from 0 to 100! What a queen, a true hero! Those mama instincts kicked in regardless of if it was her kid or not! . What an amazing story! Your Mom was one brave woman! Im sorry for your loss.. I live in FNQ of Australia and l remember when this happened and she is one very brave lady. l have seen these monsters both in the wild (not as close as your mum) and in captivity and to have the guts and courage too do what she did makes one exceptio… . I remember this happening here in Oz. Your mum was a a legend. May she Rest In Peace.. I remember that when it was on all the news programs. I remembered it well because I’d spent some time in FNQ and saw so many huge crocs. Her instincts were good. Amazing woman and a lot to be proud of.

So sorry for your loss. What an absolutely amazing woman! I hope the friend did well.. She was not only a brave woman but also the best mother in law I could have asked for. When I first came to Australia and knew no one, she took me under her wing. She would include me in almost everything she did and made sure I didn’t feel lonely. She… . What an amazing woman! And she clearly raised an amazing son . I remember this story (I’m Australian)! Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry to hear of her passing . She was awesome. But note to self, NEVER camp in Australia.. Kimberly Blake. I remember this on the news and thinking ‘that’s the sort of mum I want to be, she never gave up.’ I almost lost my son to crippling depression 18 months ago. One night driving back from the hospital, in tears for the millionth time, I thought about he… See More
