China didn’t think through what regional neighbors would do in response to its comparatively modest military buildup from a more mercantile history since at least Marco Polo established a trade route to Europe. Japan’s actions are a perfectly natural response to actions by China and North Korea. It is not in the interests of world peace, but every nation must think first of its own defense. Poland had counted on English help to keep out invaders, but it failed to honor its agreement. Ultimately each nation has to be self reliant or lose out.
- The Japanese are guilty of their past aggression towards China and all her neighbours. So the fear of revenge is real. Meanwhile the US will make a terrible mistake to imagine Japan can be a genuine ally. My take is it would be easier for the US to befriend China or Russia, than Japan. For the same reason above. I don’t think only the Japanese are afraid of China, I’m pretty sure half Asia and the western hemisphere is afraid as well.
- China knows that War on the Taiwan Strait is inevitable…All military expansion and modernization is geared towards Taiwan….China do not want a war with Japan or India…or any other Country in the region…everyone knows that China is a Dragon sure to rise given time.
You may be right on that count but most of what the CCP does is for domestic consumption and retaining their grip on power. You can see the affect it has on the trolls here. Good job Japan, the Russians had a head start seeing the CCP as a threat, now it’s time for Japan, India, Australia, South Korea and NATO countries to wake up and start spending in modernizing their military to counter the CCP threat.
