Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, royal expert Katie Nicholl said: “I think William is enormously proud of how well Kate has adapted.
“But she did have the benefit of time and experience. He was a great mentor.
“I remember being told by a palace aide how Kate had gone into Buckingham Palace when the engagement was announced and said ‘right, what do I need to know’.
“‘Tell me everything, help me learn the ropes so I know what to do when I’m on engagement.'”

Lady Louise Windsor has been praised as an “asset” to the Royal Family by a royal commentator.
Over the past few years, Lady Louise has risen to the occasion during poignant moments for the Royal Family despite her young age, according to royal expert Ingrid Seward.
The 17-year-old has shown in the past she can handle gracefully difficult situations – and she will likely continue to do so as she grows up, Ms Seward said.
She told FEMAIL: “She has always been an asset to the family and very polite which the Queen loves.”
