Berkshire Andrew Yes, the privatization of and “liberation” from such US constitutional institutions as the post office and US taxes would spell a cultural shift towards confederacy. Here’s an idea. If you must have a tollway, for instance, to pay for roads, the government runs it and collects the toll.

Breaucrats aren’t elected. The vast majority of bureaucrats and people within the government are unelected. So, in a sense it’s a godless theocracy. I don’t much care for either type.

  • You cannot have a “godless theocracy” at least not in a nation which is not a one party state where the party ideology is elevated to theological status. Other than that godless theocracy is an oxymoron. And company officers and employees, who become the most powerful people if the government is disempowered, have no responsibility at all to the general population.
  • Are you serious? I won’t name names, but I know first hand this to be almost completely untrue. Keep drinking your government provided kool-aid, I’m going down to the spring. in theory yes, in practice no. State employee’s unions, red tape and many labor laws stand in the way of this. Even if you attempt to pull that off it results in a shit storm of consequy for the executive. I like my government as small as necessary to maintain critical infrastructure, police, fire, the courts, and defense. Minarchist here.
  • Andrew except it is not a one party state. The ruling party is always at risk of losing power in an election. Union members may only be dismissed following proper procedures, which is a protection against capricious action, but their officeholder bosses do not have the same degree of protection, as we have seen so frequently during the Trump administration.

I’m in a union. You assume people never break the rules, which is why we have them in the first place. I assure you unions , both public and private, are another layer of bureaucracy. It comes with all the negatives associated with a bureaucracy. Your coming at the arguement assuming people are rational and compliant. News flash, they aren’t. Utopia doesn’t exist. The reason why corporations are good at what they do is because they have a singular focus on making a profit for their share holders. The less focus on a singular goal, the shittier the product or service.
