Sarasota County’s health department began accepting appointments Sunday afternoon for 800 available spots Monday for the COVID-19 vaccination.
The county made the announcement at about 3 p.M., just about 30 minutes before the appointment system opened, and made the appointment spots available only online at sarasota.Floridahealth.Gov.
In a matter of minutes, all the slots were gone.

Sarasota received 3,500 doses of the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine Tuesday morning, and whenever spots have become available since, they’ve been gobbled up fast.
There have been similar issues in Manatee County. The state also provided Manatee with 3,500 doses of the Moderna vaccine, and appointments are booked through today.
