What a great pitcher. Stengel mismanaged him in the 50’s, didn’t use him enough. Really blossomed under Houk, with a couple of fantastic seasons of 25 and 24 wins. Pitched more frequently, and further into games. We love you, Whitey.. Had the pleasure of watching him pitch a few times in the 60s and to this day he has remained one of my all-time favorite NY Yankees! RIP, Whitey!. Great pitcher! Great Yankee! Win it for #16!. When I was in Little League our on Long Island, 40-45 years ago, Whitey Ford showed up at the school where 3 games were playing. Didn’t leave until every kid that wanted an autograph got one.
