Im all for the renewables movement and renewables, including microgrids, but we need the newer, safer nuclear plants and inspection and renewal of current nuclear licenses if they pass. Nuclear is the best option for clean power on the large scale at this time. One of the reasons I was never a climate-change alarmist was because I never thought climate change was serious enough to warrant considering nuke. Well-played by (my fellow) Republicans to find a corporatist angle to this.
Climate change or not. Nuclear and Natural gas are far better for consumers. Solar and wind mills are not practical and not reliable. Here in Florida we have nuclear and NG and our electricity is almost the least expensive in the country. So it makes total sense to use nuclear and NG just to help the taxpayers. Why all states haven’t embraced them I’ll never understand. I’m all for green energy but we need to seriously expand nuclear. Modern reactors are extremely safe and produce zero greenhouse gas emissions. We need to start making a dent now and nuclear is the way to go.
