They continuously spray many of the drawbridges to keep them cool and prevent expansion that would interfere with their operation. It makes my bicycle commute……interesting. I’ll buy this book! I am of Dutch heritage and visited Amsterdam and surrounding towns last summer, hope to go back next year. Tots Ziens!
- I love your perspective on European culture. It’s true you learn about yourself when you learn of others. Always been a fan of your shows and yes I just bought a copy of your new book. It’s important not to overdo it at the coffee shops if you have sightseeing planned after the visit. Too much can torpedo the rest of the day.

- I was interested in Amsterdam but it wasn’t high on my list. After reading this, it’s definitely bumped up into the top 10 must visit. Absolutely sounds like a place I would never want to leave.
That brought back amazing memories of visiting Amsterdam… going into bars and coffee shops, wandering and getting lost among the streets and canals and loving every minute of it. And the cheese. My god, the cheese!
I come from Dutch ancestry (my grandma is 100% Dutch) and have always wanted to visit. I’ve been to several European countries, but still haven’t visited Amsterdam. Hopefully once countries begin to re-allow Americans to visit I can get something on the calendar! Great story!
In 1972 at the age of 16 I saw The Crazy World of Arthur Brown (Fire) concert. Porn was shown on the walls just like any light show at the time. Not one smoked pot–just hashish. Pot was for brownies and tea. People made love on the floor of the concert hall. Festival seating

With time however, it has become clear that the semi legal /semi illegal status of cannabis has funded criminal organisations that produce cannabis. These organisations have reinvested their profits not only in cannabis but also in hard drugs such as cocaine, crystal meth and XTC.
