I agree. Kids this age get mild cases. Let them quarantine and get well for 10 days and get back to class! No need to shut down the whole school. This madness will never end. they keep saying stuff like this but people have underlying conditions that they don’t even know about. There’s a young baseball player who had no idea he had a heart issue until he tested positive. Stop acting like this disease is no big deal. Y’all are exhausting you can live with caution, compassion, & some damn sense though…that’s not living in fear. It’s recognizing that your country has literally the world’s most idiotic response to a pandemic and is STILL failing 6 months later. says “the 27 year old girl with a double lung transplant” even though you g people get mild cases as you mentioned. She is a little bit older yes, but she is in the range of a number of graduate students at UNC I suspect. maybe it won’t affect these young students, but what about the older lady who cleans the dorm bathrooms and has to work? Or the night watchman who has asthma and a heart condition? This is exhausting trying to convince people to care. MIS-C…I’ve practiced pediatrics for over 20 years. Not all kids get mild cases, and we won’t know long term effects for many years. While the lungs take the hardest hit initially, we are seeing that there are long term effects on the heart that weren’t initially predicted. Dumping huge college populations into a giant test tube probably isn’t the brightest path forward. Some people have under lying health conditions— I’m immunocompromised due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. I take high strength drugs to live a relatively normal life pre-pandemic. I’d like to live to see my kids grow up.  God gave us free will and a brain to decide what is best for us and our families. It’s not a normal “flu” or it wouldn’t be a pandemic!
