I wished we had an Oliver! That’s so sweet!! It’s awesome that he gets to do this & you & your family help make memories in the time Oliver has left! God bless all of y’all & Oliver for touching so many lives!
- When I was a young girl & would visit my grandma, there was a neighbor dog that would go to her house every day for a slice of bread & butter. It was so fun to see him. Oliver reminds me of him. How great that he is so loved by so many people!
- I also have a Golden Retreaver Maggie who is going to be 12 in November who does the same thing! She loves to visit the neighbors, I’ll be working in the yard and I look up and she’s over at the neighbors visiting!
- Thank goodness they live next to trustworthy neighbors who welcome and love him. I wouldn’t trust anyone with my dogs unless I knew them first. But also letting the dog wander the neighborhood is not what I would do due to fear of the unknown.
My 12 year old golden visits two neighbours every day before heading up to spend the remainder of the day with my mom. She comes home for super and often heads back to moms until she get sent home for bed. If I go up to moms she acts like she has not seen me in days
I lived next store to an older lady that went out a couple of times a week with other ladies to play bingo – she put her dog in her yard before she left – after the car pulled away the dog would jump the fence between our properties and scratch at my door come in the house and watch tv with my family later she would know the car when it come up the road run to the back door get out and jump the fence between houses and sit on the back porch as if it had never left – I never told the lady it was a secret between us – the dog just wanted company – she did this 4 years
This is how a dog should live. Ambassador to the neighborhood, especially in his old age. What great families to nurture his love of community!! My parent’s had a neighbor dog named Cowboy who always knew when my son was there and would come over and fetch baseballs all day for him lol. He was such a smart and sweet dog.
