The project will collaborate with partners and work with youth to provide education, outreach and encourage actions to raise awareness and reduce health hazards and risks from pesticides for families in public housing in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Boston Healthy Homes and Schools Collaborative addresses lead poisoning and asthma in low-income Boston neighborhoods. The BHHSC, a program of Health Resources in Action , will address environmental health hazards in residents of low-income and predominantly minority Boston neighborhoods. The project focuses on the city’s 800 licensed Family Childcare Providers who care for children in their own homes. BHHSC will encourage FCPs to change behavior and improve living conditions through healthy housing education and the development of an Enviro-Healthy Family Childcare Certification Program.
