You can’t identify a persona after which attempt to predict people’s conduct off it. But with stable analysis and evaluation you should use personas successfully to help focus growth efforts heading in the right direction users, and assist define what options needs to be included in (and just as importantly, excluded from) the product. I perceive and agree with the concern that personas can generally be oversimplified caricatures of users that don’t take specific conditions and actions in consideration. But we should not confuse advertising personas with design personas, that are particularly created to guide the development of product options.
