Because there may be typically one member within the car that may veto going to McDonald’s if they did not have a salad as an alternative to a meat burger. E.g. if mother vetoes McDonalds, they would lose the 3 potential burger gross sales to the dad & 2 kids in the automotive. Scenarios like that makes the salad option (and veggie/meatless burgers) worth it for them. I go because it is quick, simple, and fairly cheap (€2 for a veggie burger in Germany). For four bucks I’m full. Kebab is slightly costlier and has meat, pizza is more expensive , and chinese language/thai/vietnamese takeaway is costlier.
