Flowers in everyday life
Flowers and ornamental plants work to help people reduce stress, feel more relaxed and happy. That’s the conclusion of scientists from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School after a large-scale research on the role of flowers in human behavior. Dr. Nancy Etcoff – who led the research – revealed that in houses with the presence of fresh flowers, the members living in them tend to be more sympathetic and tolerant to each other. The risk of falling into stress, anxiety, or depression is much lower than those living in spaces where flowers are short.
“Many studies have confirmed that receiving flowers helps recipients feel happy,” Dr. Etcoff continued. “Try spending time living in a space with lots of fresh flowers for a few days, then you will notice many positive changes emotionally and mentally yourself.”
