Groot is a tree-like creature, a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Larry Lieber, and Dick Ayers, this character first appeared in Tales to Astonish # 13 (November 1960). In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1, Groot sacrificed himself to protect his teammates. However, in the after-credits part, when the sadness was not over, the audience was happy to see the appearance of Baby Groot – the tiny tree boy and supposedly revived by Groot.
