In sturdy oak boats, the Vikings sailed across the waters of Europe. To what land is rich, they stop invading and pillaging. Streams of Vikings from Northern Europe spread in all directions, to settle in newly captured lands in England, France, the Baltic Sea, Russia to the Iberian peninsula (today Spain, Portugal. Nha), even crossed the Atlantic to America 500 years before the explorer Christopher Columbus, but still traces still remain in Canada.
A Viking warship, unearthed in 1880, is currently kept at the University of Oslo’s Museum of Culture and History (Norway).
The Vikings left their strongest mark in England and Ireland with their expeditions from Denmark to these lands. While another group from Sweden followed the cruise to Russia. The rest of the Vikings from Norway traveled to Scotland, Iceland and the island of Greenland (Denmark).
