Recently, archaeologists conducted excavations of the Alken Enge region on the shores of Lake Mossø in Denmark’s Jutland peninsula.

Scientific studies show that most individuals are young men, and they all died in a single event in the early 1st century AD. Unwanted wounds on the remains, as well as the find of weapons, “denounce” that individuals died in battle.
Many human remains showing body-matched animal rodent marks were exposed elsewhere for six months to a year before submerging in the swamp. This led researchers to suspect that after a while, the remains were collected from a nearby battlefield.
