Elephants use their trunks to grab food and put it in their mouths. Their food is mainly grass and other plants on the ground. Elephants use their trunks to pull leaves, trunks and branches down from above. When food is scarce, elephants use their tusks to knock down trees. When thirsty, elephants gather on the banks of rivers or puddles, even use the hose to dig down to absorb water. Elephants drink water by sucking water in a hose and then spraying it into the mouth. Each day elephants consume 160-300 liters of water. Elephants also spray water on their backs to cool their skin.
Every day adult baby elephants release an amount of waste that is heavier than a boy’s weight. The manure containing the seeds that the elephant has swallowed will grow into a new tree to replace the plants they have eaten or crumbled. Currently in some countries, elephants are researched, researched and tested to process elephant manure into paper (because elephant manure is quite clean, does not smell bad because they only eat plants and drink water).
