To put it simply, the mechanism of action of the eye is similar to that of a camera. In order to capture images, the reflected light from the object is refracted through the lens system and focused on the film, through the process of developing the image will give us the images.
The eye has a lens system belonging to the anterior part of the eyeball, including the cornea, pupil, and lens. Light enters the eye after being refracted through the cornea and the lens is focused on the retina of the eye.
Here the light signal will be converted to light receptors on the retina into nerve signals. That signal is then transmitted to the brain via the visual nervous system and identified as imaging in the brain. This is how the eye works for you to see something.
