He implemented a system of quality physical and tactical training (including melee combat), as well as training of psychological personnel. Margelov is also responsible for the deployment of modern equipment for the Air Force, such as armed combat vehicles, self-propelled amphibious guns and trailers, and reliable stable parachute systems (though automatic, parachute drop, gear drop system with fleet inside), large transport capable long-range military transport aircraft (An-12, An-22, Il-76).
One of the “highlights” that General Margelov made a mark on the Air Force, was that he put a striped bra, “jacket” and a green beret into the paratrooper’s uniform, with a famous statement: “In In case of war, green beret soldiers will be thrown into invaders’ mouth.
To this day, for the former Soviet and Russian paratroopers, the uniform is a cherished sacredness, as well as their memory of General Margelov. His name was given to the Command School of the Airborne Infantry Division in Ryazan.
Recently, on July 25, 2020, the Russian Ministry of Defense solemnly inaugurated the road to honor the paratroopers and their legendary commanding monument at Patriot park outside Moscow.
