4. Decide upon with care

Slipping in your gardening gloves and heading out to decide on your plants is probably the most wonderful half, but don’t forget to pop them straight into cool water. ‘Doing this makes a big change to the vase life of the flowers and should preserve them searching tip-right for longer,’ says Sarah.

To do this, with ease remove leaves from the backside of the stem and pop them into water right away. In case your blooms are searching a little floppy before the huge day, Sarah suggests a bit magic trick: ‘Sear the ends in boiling water – 5 seconds for softer stems and 45 for woodier stems.’

5. Making confetti

Plastic-free, biodegradable confetti is a must for any wedding. Unlike paper confetti, real petals have appealing coloration and float beautifully within the air when thrown for pictures.

‘fresh rose petals and marigolds in addition to dismembered cornflowers all work well. I love the use of the petals of larkspur and delphiniums too,’ adds Sarah. ‘that you would be able to also seize all of the dropped petals that have fallen off the other flowers you are the use of for the wedding and preserve those as supplementary confetti.’

When it comes to buttonholes, Sarah suggests turning out to be stunning lilies, sprigs of heather or nigella pods: ‘when you are set on having a rose or dahlia for buttonholes, be certain to wrap the stem in cotton wool, then grasp film and buttonhole tape.’

7. Enjoy the shows

‘essentially the most important factor to do as soon as your preparations are comprehensive is to benefit from the day,’ says Sarah. ‘Your venue should be brimming with the wonderful odor of your generic flowers, and you’ll take satisfaction in seeing the fruits of your labour as a good looking, herbal ornament to your marriage ceremony day.’
