Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson surprised his daughter Tiana with a superhero-sized birthday gift when he called in a favor from his friend Jason Momoa, aka Aquaman.
Apparently, Tiana is a huge fan of the aquatic superhero, so much so that she admitted she thought Aquaman was cooler than — gasp! — her own dad. Ouch! She even asked if Aquaman could join them for breakfast on her birthday.
“The birthday girl Tia is OBSESSED with @prideofgypsies,” Johnson wrote in an Instagram post, using Momoa’s handle on the platform. Well, good news for Tiana — Momoa seriously delivered on that special request!
The Jumanji star posted a video on Instagram of Momoa sending a message to Tiana for her third birthday while also giving a shoutout to big sis Jasmine, 5.
“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry I couldn’t be there, but I love you,” Momoa said. “And tell your papa that I love him, too. I will see you soon. Happy third birthday. Bye, Jazzy. Bye, Tia. Love you.”
While Tia jumped up and down, Jasmine spoke for all of us when she asked Johnson and mom Lauren Hashian if they could watch it again. With more than 14.7 million views, it looks as if more than a few Instagrammers took her advice.
“I had to make the call…it’s what daddy’s do,” Johnson captioned the video post. “I can’t thank my brother @prideofgypsies enough for making this adoring 3yr old’s birthday the best EVER. Her reaction is priceless and what it’s all about.”
The Rock continued his love-fest shoutout to fellow dad Momoa, who has two kids and one stepdaughter with wife Lisa Bonet, by highlighting what matters most when it comes to being famous. “You epitomize one of my favorite quotes: ‘It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.’”
“[W]hat an honour,” Momoa replied in the comments. “[W]e do it for our babies.”
