I’m A Simple Woman Who Loves Jesus Dog Coffee And Crocheting Shirt, hoodie, tank top
Jesus healed everyone who asked him for healing. He touched lepers and washed dirty feet.
He made friends with prostitutes, thieves and outcasts — not just tolerated them.
When a blind man called out, “Have mercy on me!” Jesus showed the man mercy and gave him sight.
He fed people, he wept with those who wept. He forgave Peter who denied knowing him and called Judas, who betrayed him, “friend.”
He was patient with Thomas’ doubts about him. He listened to people, he saw their true selves, and when he was dying, he forgave those who drove the nails through his hands “for they know not what they do.”
Jesus told his followers to love their enemies, do good to those who hate them, not repay wrong with wrong, to “turn the other cheek,” forgive people “70 times seven” times, to be peacemakers, merciful, not judgmental, to be humble and welcoming of those who were different.
Jesus took time with people. He met their true needs and not just their temporal, immediate needs.
He loved completely, because he is love itself, love incarnate.
How can I love like that?
If I make a list of all the ways I don’t love like Jesus and another list of the ways I want to improve and put them on the refrigerator with a magnet, I could make check marks whenever I love like Jesus loves.
Except that won’t change my heart.
The only thing that will is if I’m loved first.
“We love because he (God) first loved us,” writes the apostle John (1 John 4:19).
When I let God love me, his love compels me to love. I have so much that I want to give it away.
Sometimes I need to remind myself that it’s as simple as that.
